Under the theme, Health | Wellness | Connections, the Expo is designed to empower women to make better decisions about their health, wellness, lifestyle, and beauty; the day-long event offers information on health issues, available services and resources, and comprehensive wellness. The Expo promises to invigorate the Statesboro community to keep health and wellness a priority.

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, attendees will receive medical information, free health screenings, as well as samples, makeovers; and demos from beauty, health and fitness companies. 
In addition to receiving giveaways from participating exhibitors, we will be announcing prizes throughout the day, and each attendee will have a chance to win the SHE Expo Grand Prize!

Thanks to the generosity of Expo sponsors and the commitment of its volunteers; the Expo is open to the public and admission will be free.

9:30 AM                              Beginner's Yoga

Learn about the basics of yoga - and even try out chair yoga - with East Georgia Regional Medical Center's Occupational Therapist Diana Tompkins (2nd floor location) 

10:00 AM                            Hands-Only CPR Basics

Learn how and what to do in the event you are faced in an emergency situation and need to give Hands Only CPR. Led by EGRMC's Clinical Educator Lesli Martin, RN, BSN (2nd floor location) 

10:30 AM                          Stroke Awareness & Prevention

It's important to understand the risk factors and warning signs of a stroke. Teresa Cheney, DNP, RN, APRN, FNP-BC, family medicine provider at Statesboro Family Practice, will give an informative presentation on all things stroke, including stroke prevention and life after stroke. 

11:00 AM                            Exercise for a Healthy Heart

Can exercise reverse heart risk for middle-aged people? Yes! Research has found that exercise can reverse damage to sedentary, aging hearts and help prevent risk of future heart failure. Learn what's most important when it comes to heart health and moving our bodies safely and effectively. You'll get great tips on how to start and maintain a heart healthy exercise program from Melissa Barnard, RN, of East Georgia Regional Medical Center's Cardiac Rehab program.   

11:30 AM                        Heart Healthy Nutrition 

Madison Crockett, RDN, Dietitian at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, will host a breakout session on heart healthy nutrition, sharing key tips on what to look for and buy/not buy at the grocery store, reading food labels and understanding what they mean, etc. This will be a great session for anyone wanting to learn some easy changes they can make when they're cooking or grocery shopping....we all want to improve our eating habits and have a healthier diet!
